Parking and Traffic Advisory: Bastille Concert, March 28/ Ringling Brothers Circus in April

Posted: March 24, 2017 at 4:45 pm, Last Updated: March 24, 2017 at 5:50 pm

1. On Tuesday, March 28, at 7:30 p.m., a Bastille Concert will be held at EagleBank Arena, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. This will impact traffic and parking on campus. Allow extra time commuting to and from campus and avoid the southern end of campus off Braddock Road near the Arena. The top two levels of the Shenandoah Parking Deck will serve as overflow general permit parking after 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Parking in the Rappahannock River Parking Deck General permit area is encouraged to avoid traffic and parking impacts.

2. The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus will visit EagleBank Arena from April 7 through April 16, 2017.

Parking Closures – Circus tents and fencing will occupy portions of Lot A and Lot L from Thursday, March 30 at 11 p.m. through Monday, April 17. The areas closing are marked with signs. Any vehicles left in these areas will be ticketed and towed at the owners risk and expense.

The Circus will vacate Lot A and Lot L by Tuesday, April 18. EagleBank Arena has worked strategically with the Circus to minimize the impact on campus. Lot K will not be used by the Circus.

Scheduled show times:

Friday, April 7, 10:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, April 8, 11:30 a.m., 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Sunday, April 9, 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Thursday, April 13, 7 p.m.

Friday, April 14, 1 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, April 15, 11:30 a.m., 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

Sunday, April 16, 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Doors open one hour prior to each start time. Each show runs approximately two hours.

Parking & Traffic – Drivers arriving to campus after 10 a.m., especially on Tuesdays and Thursdays, are advised to park in the back of Lot K, the PV lot, and the Field House parking lots (M, O and P), as other General permit areas on the east (main) campus are expected to fill.

The West Campus shuttle provides service between the West Campus lot, Field House, and East Campus every 15 minutes. View shuttle schedule.

Recent empty parking space counts indicate fewer parking spaces will be removed from inventory than have been available on average in General permit lots.

The reserved roof level of the Rappahannock River Parking Deck will accommodate a limited number of General parking permit owners to park on a first come, first served basis, pending parking space availability.  Check the LED signs outside the Rappahannock River Parking Deck entrances to determine availability.  Reserved levels 4 and 5 of the Shenandoah Parking Deck will also open after 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 14.

Transportation – Parking & Transportation suggests students and employees take advantage of alternative transportation options, such as the CUE bus, the Mason shuttles, bicycling, and carpooling. Check transportation.gmu.edu and shuttle.gmu.edu for more information.

Students and employees can share or find rides to campus at zimride.com/mason or utilize carpool zones in Lot A and the Rappahannock River Parking Deck before 11 a.m., Monday – Friday. http://transportation.gmu.edu/lotacarpool.html
